Humorous Campaign, Directed By Timothy Kendall, Receives 14 Local, District and National ADDY Awards

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – June 28, 2013 – The 2012 St. Louis Cardinals TV Campaign was awarded multiple Gold and Silver at the National ADDY Awards held on Saturday, June 8, 2013. The campaign, created by St. Louis-based HughesLeahyKarlovic Agency (HLK), was directed by Timothy Kendall of full-service production and post company Drive Thru, Inc. (www.drivethrutv.com). In the lead up to the National ADDY wins, the campaign also received numerous Local and District ADDY Awards.

The campaign amassed a total of 14 ADDYs: 4 Local ADDYs, including Best of Show for the Campaign; 6 District ADDYs; and 4 National ADDYs, comprised of 2 Golds (for the Campaign and for the :30 “Bingo”) and 2 Silvers (for the :30 “Confetti” and the :30 “Birdcall.”) View the campaign here: http://www.interdubs.com/r/drivethru/?al=z7UXMl

Director Timothy Kendall and Drive Thru’s work on the campaign were key to its overwhelming success according to HLK’s Group Creative Director Jake Edinger. “The whole experience was a blast. Drive Thru and Tim Kendall are hard-working, ego-free partners that we know we can collaborate with and deliver work that everyone is proud of,” says Edinger.

The production process was complex with multiple spots to cover in a very short time-frame – nine spots shot in two days during Spring Training. “We came out with an embarrassment of riches, thanks to Drive Thru and Tim Kendall,” says Edinger. “The time we had with each player was minimal, and somehow, they got great performances out of non-actors and managed to capture everything from reverence to intensity to humor.”

Drive Thru Head of Production/Executive Producer Mark Setterholm describes how Kendall’s approach helped Drive Thru deliver terrific material in such a short time. “Tim is a new breed of director; he’s got editing chops and he understands how to incorporate special efx.” says Setterholm. “He knew exactly when he had the performance that he was looking for so he could move on – which was important when working under these tight time constraints – and he offered broad stroke ideas to the agency and the Cardinals’ in-house editor when it came time to edit.”

Edinger says that this approach contributed to the campaign’s success. “Tim gave us great ideas for the edit that took the spots to the next level,” says Edinger. “Drive Thru stayed with us from concept to final output and never let up. They brought energy, enthusiasm and thoughts on how to make each spot better.”
